The recent bombings in London have been hysterically described as a terrorist attack on a free nation. However, there are some who believe that
it was entirely predictable, based on the premise that other bombings -- noteably one in Bali and another in Spain -- were done to send a message to the military accomplices in the Iraq invasion.
Those partners in death were relatively few in number, and of those, only a few actually contributed to the invasion and subsequent occupation. Dilip Hiro has written
several articles about Iraq, and he has even
penned a few books. His observation is based on three premises:
- Australians in Bali were targeted because Australia was a generous coalition partner
- Spain was targeted because the Spanish government boasted a full and friendly cooperation with the USA
- London was bombed because they are the largest contributor, next to the USA, in the Iraq occupation
His connection of these dots is very interesting and much more sensible than the overworked "they hate freedom" reasoning we hear so often. Perhaps the
departing coalition partners have a firmer grasp on reality than the remaining USA and British troops. Maybe the terrorists really are haters of freedom.
If so, then
why aren't they targeting really free nations like Sweden?
